Tonsilitis

For the 1st time in my life I have Tonsillitis. Three days in bed with a fever aching all over and feeling rotten. I didn't think adults could get it but we can and its not nice. I was supposed to be on a Stag Doo last night and a works night out tonight so I suppose I'm now feeling like I should have been feeling and tomorrow I should be feeling better than I should have been feeling and a little bit better off!

Mariage and toilets

I've been married just over 10 years, and my parents have been married 43 years. My Parents have lived in their house for 33 years, built in 1976 and we have lived in our house for 14 years, built in 1976. Now for the list;

Washing machine: Them 2 Us 4
Cooker: Them 2 Us 2 (looking for 3rd)
TV: Them 4 Us 5 (looking for 5th)
Video: Them 2 Us 5 (not working now not bothering with another)
DVD Player: Them 2 Us 4 (not working not sure what to get next!)
Fridge: Them 2 (1st still working as back up 43yr old and counting) Us 3
Sofa: Them 2 Us 3
Dining Table: Them 1 Us 1 (need another chairs given up)
Bathroom: Them 1 Us 2

Why after only replacing the bathroom about 5 years ago why has our toilet stopped flushing? I have just had to buy the whooshy things for inside (cascade syphon according to Jewsons). It wasn't expensive, less than £10, but I have to turn the water off, drain the tank, remove cistern from the wall fit this thing and put it all back together. Its a days work with the severe risk of flooding, swearing, mess and running to the In-laws to do you know what!

Someone at work has had to do the same and their toilet is about the same age. How much more expensive did the bathroom have to be to get a toilet that will work for ever. There is no micro chips in it to go wrong, just a bit of plastic.

Instead of having to buy expensive warranties on everything we buy we should be able to pay just a little more and get something that will last!

Lifeboat

Went down to the Lifeboat open day today with the boys. Its a lot bigger on the inside than it looks, but still don't fancy heading out in it on a rough day!

Its bad tho, that a city trader can get a six figure bonus for bankrupting a bank, buy a yacht with it, set off out to sea and the lifeboat crew has to go out and risk their lives as volunteers to save a life. Then they have to spend more of their own time on a freezing cold Saturday to raise funds so they can afford to put fuel in the lifeboat.

Back to Work

Been back to work for two weeks now, I could live with working on days like this all the time. But as the pic at the top shows it is not always so peaceful. This load of wood shifted on the boat and resulted in one big game of Jenga! Took a while to sort out and made me glad everything comes in containers now.

Christmas has Arrived 1

I was hoping to be writing this a couple of hours ago but Santa's been, Turkeys ready for the oven, the boys are sleeping...........eventually. Hope everyone has a wonderful time.

Merry Christmas

Christmas is coming 3

Iced the Christmas Cake today, it must be 15 years since I last made royal icing! All things considered it looks ok and the boys liked using the leftover icing to decorate the biscuits. I think a bath will be required soon. Going to make more mince pies and try not to eat them all. Thought it might have been a good day to go and take photo's of waves but the last torrential downpour has made my mind up.

Christmas is coming 2

Decorations are up! Christmas cake is soaking up the Brandy, and the mince pies......well the 1st batch were very good. I don't have much evidence to back that up as I ate 10 out of 12! Have heard that the Turkey is now very worried about the future, but he should be happy because the cranberry sauce taste's lovely. Only 10 more sleeps to go according to our eldest and I have a feeling they are going to be shorter every night.
